6 MUST HAVES FOR THE WORK AT HOME MOM

When she left her job as a property manager and became a new stay at home mama, her blog became her work. Today she is going to be talking about 6 must haves if you’re considering becoming a work at home mom.

6 Work At Home Mom Must Haves
Uninterrupted Time for Work
Creating a routine will save your sanity. For myself, it is nearly impossible to work while my son is awake. He wants to be entertained and play with mommy- and I want to spend as much time with him as I can. I utilize his nap time and after he goes to bed at night to work. Knowing what time blocks you can work during will help you be able to focus on the task at hand and help you not stress about when you will find the time to meet a deadline.
Your own work space
As a mom there is very little that we can keep to ourselves- someone is always wanting our food, our attention or their shoes tied. But when you work from home you have to be able to dedicate your full attention to your work. I have found that the best way to do this is to have a space to call your own. Whether it is a desk in a corner, an office, or a lap desk- create a space that works for you and let your family know that this is mommy’s work space and it is off limits! We had a spare bedroom that wasn’t being used that I turned into my office. Being able to shut the door and focus really helps my productivity.
A friend gave me a lap desk for Christmas and I have been loving it! Some nights I like to curl up in bed and watch The Bachelor while I work, and this thing let’s me do just that! I also highly recommend a wireless mouse if you are working from a laptop- it is so much easier to use.
I know you probably have 973864 things running through your mind every day. The dog grooming appointment, the baby’s annual doctors visit, and when the bills are due. It is impossible to keep track of it all! For this reason- I love a good planner. And I like my planners like I like my burgers- beefy! I always invest in a planner that has everything that I need so that I have all of my information in one place. I look for one that has a contacts section, notes section, passwords section, daily tasks sections and weekly tasks sections. Become BFF’s with your planner and organize your life. If you write it down you are more likely to remember it and to stick to it!
